The Missouri State baseball team turned a scoreless game into a 15-0 rout over the third through fifth innings Saturday and went on to defeat visiting Bradley by a 15-3 final in seven innings in Missouri Valley Conference action at Hammons Field. The league’s run rule was in effect with the Bears up more than 10 runs after the Braves batted in the seventh.

    The Bears walked 11 times and were hit by three pitches on the way to their sixth straight win, improving to 10-10 overall and 2-0 in the league. BU fell to 5-10 and 0-2 in the conference.

    Freshman Kevin Medrano went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, the first two coming on a double in the third. Dallas Hord hit his fourth home run of the year in the fourth to start a five-run inning that included a two-run single from Medrano and two-run double from Brayden Drake. Drake’s two-bagger extended his hitting streak to 28 games.

    The wheels came off for the Braves in the fifth, as BU pitchers issued six walks and hit two batters, leading to eight runs for the Bears and a 15-0 lead. Travis McComack had a two-RBI double to start the scoring, and Hord added a three-run double. Medrano had an RBI hit and the Braves walked in two runs as well.

    Buddy Baumann’s scoreless streak to start the season ended at 22 innings in the sixth when Nick Mitidiero lifted a two-run homer to left center. Luttrell added a solo shot later in the sixth, but the 15-run cushion was easily enough for Baumann to improve to 4-0 on the year. Baumann struck out five in six innings.

    Hord had four RBIs, scored twice and reached safely in all four plate appearances. McComack scored three times and Aaron Conway crossed the plate twice as well.

    The Bears go for the sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday.
