Baseball Bears Dominate Delaware in Series Opener, 14-1

NEWARK, Del. – Missouri State pitchers struck out 13 Delaware hitters without issuing a walk, while the offense drew 12 walks and clubbed six extra-base hits for a 14-1 thrashing of the Blue Hens in Friday's Conference USA series opener at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Ross Felder (2-1) threw a career-high seven innings and allowed a run on six hits with eight strikeouts, while Tommy Kramkowski struck out the side in the eighth and Adyn Schell fanned a pair in a scoreless ninth to round out the Bears' trio of freshman arms.

Logan Fyffe and Gabe Roessler each tied career highs with three hits and each drove in three runs, while eight batters in the lineup recorded a hit and eight scored a run to help the Bears improve to 22-10 overall and 10-3 in the league.

Brant Kragel got the game started with a two-run homer in the first, Bobby Atkinson added a sacrifice fly in the third, and Mo State broke it open with a four-run fifth.

In the fifth, Max Kight belted a two-run single off the left field wall before Caden Bogenpohl and Fyffe hit back-to-back RBI doubles for a 7-1 lead.

Roessler hit a two-run double in the eighth and Taeg Gollert was plunked with the bases loaded to make it 10-1, and Roessler added an RBI single in the ninth before a wild pitch and Fyffe two-run single concluded the scoring.

Game two of the series is set for 1 p.m. Central on Saturday.
