Former Bear Track Athlete Qualifies for USA Nationals

Former Missouri State men’s track athlete Blake Boldon will compete at the USA National Indoor Track and Field Championships this upcoming weekend.  Boldon, who graduated from Missouri State in 2003, will compete in the men’s 3,000-meter run at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston, Mass., February 28 through March 1, 2009. 

Boldon’s 3,000-meter event is set to take place Saturday at 5:25 p.m. (EST).  Boldon, now training in Colorado Springs, Colo., represents the Boulder Running Company.  Boldon boasts two top ten finishes at USA national track and field championships.  Boldon was fourth in the 3,000-meters at the 2007 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a performance of 7:57.  At the 2006 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Boldon finished tenth in the 1,500-meters with a performance of 3:44.83.  In 2003, Boldon set the Missouri State 1,500-meter record of 3:42.73.

Also going to USA Nationals is Dallas Henry, a Missouri State graduate student in business and current member of the Missouri State coaching staff serving in a volunteer role.  He will compete in the men’s 800-meter at the USA Nationals, with the preliminary rounds set to begin Saturday at 2:40 p.m. and the finals set for Sunday at 5:16 p.m.  A 2008 graduate of Mid-American Nazarene University, Henry posted bests of 1:55.25 indoor and 1:52.26 outdoor as a senior.  Now training under MSU distance coach Greg Hipp, Henry has improved his personal bests to 1:50.63 outdoor and 1:50.69 indoor.
