The Missouri State women's golf team was in fourth place after the first round of the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo., Monday (Oct. 5), with play suspended for the day due to darkness late in the second round. Most groups in the 18-team field had just a hole or two remaining in their second rounds, which will be completed beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday before the final round starts at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the Club at Old Hawthorne, a par 72, 6204-yard layout.
The Bears shot 310 in the opening round and were tied for fourth place with Indiana. Tulsa held the first-round lead with 301, four shots clear of Illinois State and eight better than third-place Wisconsin. Then came the Bears and Hoosiers, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock at 311, Mississippi and Florida International at 314. Missouri at 316 and Bradley at 318 rounded out the top 10.
Freshman Heather Smith and senior Stacey Rodger set the pace for MSU with 73 and 75, respectively. Sophomore Catherine Dolan shot 78, freshman Hermine Greyling 84 and sophomore Kelsey Welber 90.
