Missouri State senior distance specialist Carrie Vestal has earned a spot on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country second team, it was announced Thursday, June 5. Vestal carries a 3.95 grade point average as an entrepreneurship major, and was recently selected the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team.
Capturing bronze in the 10,000-meter run at the MVC Outdoor Championship and bronze in the 5,000-meter run at the Valley Indoor Championship, Vestal was named to the MVC All-Conference squad both meets. She ran a season best time of 35:09.15 in the 10,000 meter run at the Stanford Invitational. Her time topped the Valley list and ranks second on the MSU All-Time Top Performers list.
The Springfield, Mo. native will now be eligible for inclusion on the Academic All-American ballot. The award is voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
