Central Arkansas pounded 19 hits and scored 15 runs on the way to a 15-4 victory over the Missouri State baseball team to earn the split in the four-game series Sunday afternooon at UCA Field in Conway, Ark.
The Missouri State (5-2) offense was comprised of a pair of two-run homers. Ben Carlson slugged his fourth round-tripper of the year in the first, driving home Chris Playter on the play. Nolan Keane hit his bomb in the fifth, with Ben Woodbury scoring on the play.
Austin Todd (0-1) took the loss in the first start of his career, and was the first of eight MSU pitchers on the afternoon. UCA knocked him out of the game in the second after a seven-run outburst.
Central Arkansas (5-3) extended its advantage to 8-4 in the bottom of the fourth, and added five more in the fifth, getting a three-run double from Richey Irvin and a two-run homer off the bat of Tye Throneberry. UCA’s final two runs came in the seventh.
Missouri State travels to Oral Roberts for a 3 p.m. Tuesday contest before opening the home season March 7 against Iowa at 3 p.m. at Hammons Field.
