Oklahoma State belted seven home runs and 11 extra-base hits to score a 19-10 victory over the Missouri State baseball team Tuesday afternoon at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
The Bears (8-3) scored a pair of runs in the top of the first as Brayden Drake got things started with an RBI single that scored Ben Woodbury and Ben Carlson hit a towering sacrifice fly to plate Nolan Keane.
No. 23 Oklahoma State (10-3) answered in the home half of the first, collecting base hits with the four batters and putting the first six men on safely before MSU recorded an out. OSU catcher Luis Flores followed the first out with a three-run homer to finish a seven-run inning in which the Cowboys sent 12 batters to the plate.
MSU got two back in the second to make it a 7-4 game with Woodbury and Keane notching RBI singles, but the Bears left the bases loaded to miss a much-needed opportunity for even more runs, as OSU hit two more homers in the bottom of the second to extend the lead out to 11-4.
The Bears loaded the bases with no outs in the third and chipped into the lead with an RBI single from Curt Courtwright, a fielder’s choice from Chris Playter, a two-run double from Woodbury and an RBI hit from Drake to make the score 11-9 after two-and-a-half innings.
Tyrone Hambly’s second round-tripper of the game and a two-run shot by Matt Hague gave the Cowboys a 15-9 lead through four innings, and Dylan Brown smacked his second homer of the day in the fifth for a 17-9 score.
Ryan Mantle hit an RBI double for the Bears in the sixth, but Brown’s third home run made the score 19-10 through six frames.
Missouri State opens a nine-game homestand on Wednesday at 4 p.m against Kansas.
