Missouri State junior second baseman Matt Lawson, who was drafted by the Texas Rangers last Friday, has signed a contract with the organization and will not return to Missouri State for his senior season. The 14th-round pick will begin his professional career with the Class A Short-Season Spokane Indians of the Northwest League. He leaves for the Pacific Northwest later this week.
