Women's Golf places fourth at ORU Shootout

The Missouri State women’s golf team wrapped up a fourth-place finish Tuesday afternoon at the ORU Shootout at the par-72, 6,082-yard Meadowbrook Country Club in Broken Arrow, Okla. Senior Missy Linnens fired a final-round 74 to finish third overall.      

Missouri State entered Tuesday’s final round in fifth place, but shot 311 as a team to finish with a 936 team total and edge Sam Houston State by one stroke for the fourth spot. The Bears finished two shots behind co-runners-up Louisiana-Monroe and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and 10 strokes off the pace of Oral Roberts, which carded 312-303-311--926 to top the 15-team field.

Linnens, who held a one-shot lead after Monday’s opening round, carded 73-74-74--222 to come home three shots off the lead of individual medalist Angela Drane (219) of ULM. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Ashley Olynick finished second on the strength of a final-round 72.

 

Missouri State senior Lyndsey Adams (236) finished in a tie for 17th overall, while Stacey Rodger and Jillian Anthony tied for 24th with matching totals of 239. Junior Amy Phalajivin was fifth for the Bears and tied for 52nd overall with 247.

 

Next up, Missouri State will participate in the LPGA International Xavier Invitational, next Saturday (Oct. 13) and Sunday (Oct. 14) in Daytona Beach, Fla.
