At Missouri State: Drakopoulou was named senior captain for the 2011-12 season. She has established herself as one of the top distance swimmers in the MVC and one of the best in Missouri State history.

2010-11: For the third straight season, Drakopoulou finished the year as the Bears[apos] top distance freestyler. She claimed Missouri State[apos]s top time in the 500 free (4:57.48), 1000 free (10:15.96) and 1650 free (17:04.66). At the MVC Championships, she took second in the 500 free, fourth in the 1650 free and sixth in the 200 free, while swimming on MSU[apos]s record-setting 800 free relay. She was one of 11 MSU swimmers to be named to the All-MVC first team and was a 2010-11 MVC Scholar-Athlete.

2009-10: As a sophomore, Drakopoulou set school records in the 500 free (4:55.37), 1000 free (10:08.46) and 1650 free (16:47.16), all in the 2010 MVC Championships. Drakopoulou broke the four-year-old 1000 free record on the front end of her 1650 free at the conference meet.

2008-09: Drakopoulou swam distance freestyle for Missouri State as a freshman, and set the season[apos]s top times in the 500 free (4:58.71) and 1650 free (17:13.84).

2007-08: Drakopoulou joined the Bears during the spring semester and did not compete in any meets.

Background: She joined Missouri State after representing South Africa in international competition. In 2007, she qualified for the South Africa Senior Nationals and placed second in the 400 free, third in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 fly. She was placed on the United Schools Sports Association of South Africa swimming team for three consecutive years.

Personal: Dimitra Drakopoulou is the daughter of Dimitrios and Charmaine Drakopoulos. She was born on July 25, 1989 in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, South Africa. She has three siblings: Anastasia, Anthea and Katerina. She is working toward her master of science in community agency.
