Biography

At Missouri State: Jodie Shead will provide the Bears with experienced outfield depth.

2007: Shead started 27 games in leftfield and four as MSU's designated player, batting .224. She recorded three RBIs against Eastern Illinois (2/27/07).

Background: Shead was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter for softball powerhouse Lafayette High. As a senior, Shead was the leadoff hitter and centerfielder for the 25-4 Lancers, who qualified for the 4A state tournament and finished third. Shead etched her name into the school's record books as she set a season record with 33 runs scored, had the school's second-best ever on-base percentage of .451, stole 17 bases for second-most in a season, and picked up 34 hits to rank third in a season in school history. She was named second team all-state, first team all-district and all-conference, and honorable mention all-metro. As a junior, Shead earned first team all-conference and all-district and second team all-metro honors. For her career at Lafayette, Shead was part of 81 wins and had totals of 70 runs scored, 80 hits, 43 stolen bases, and a .407 on-base percentage, which all rank in the top-five in school history. Shead also was a sprinter on the track and field team.

Personal: Jodie Marie Shead is the daughter of Ken and Debbie Shead. She was born June 21, 1988, in Westminster, Calif. She is majoring in history education.
