Biography

At MSU: Mickey Baker transferred to MSU last January and took part in spring practice. A highly-decorated juco standout, he is expected to join the battle for playing time in the Bears' already-deep linebacking unit.

Background: Baker sat out last season at Akron, his sophomore year of eligibility. He was a first team NJCAA All-American as a redshirt freshman at Dodge City (Kan.) Community College after posting 112 tackles, including 12.5 for loss, and a team-high five interceptions in 2005. He also earned first team all-conference and all-region honors and was voted the league's top linebacker. In high school, he was the Big Bend Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2003. Baker earned all-city honors as a junior and senior at East Gadsden High.

Personal: Mickey Demeatrice Baker was born 9/8/85 in Quincy, Fla., the son of Rovelt Walter and Junita Baker. He is majoring in hospitality and restaurant administration.
