2015: Dezort hit a career-high .298 as a junior despite being limited to 26 games due to injury; turned in a .400 batting mark during Missouri Valley Conference play and hit .471 at home…Logged a career-best five-game hit streak, March 14-22, hitting .444 (8-for-18)…Recorded a career-best three hits in four trips to the plate March 20 vs. Indiana State; followed that effort by going 2-for-3 the next day, then added a hit in the series finale to finish the weekend 6-for-10 vs. ISU…Came off the bench to score a pair of runs in MSU’s 12-6 win at Jacksonville (March 27)…Had two hits in the Bears’ 2-0 win at Evansville (April 12) that clinched a three-game sweep of the Aces…Earned MVC Academic Honor Roll recognition for the second straight year.
2014: Hit .273 in 45 games as a sophomore, including a .318 batting mark during Missouri Valley Conference play...Made 12 starts in left field and collected four pinch hits in 14 at-bats...Drove in 11 runs and scored 12 times--both career highs--and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts...Hit .333 in 12 home games, including a 2-for-2 night vs. Saint Louis (April 1) in which he clubbed a pinch-hit grand slam for his first career home run...Logged three multi-hit games for the year--all MSU victories; went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the Bears' 11-0 victory over Northern Illinois (Feb. 22) and 2-for-4 with a steal and a run batted-in in a 12-0 win over Abilene Christian (March 7)...Drove in the go-ahead run with a ninth-inning single off the bench to lift the Bears past Wichita State (March 23)...Named to the MVC's Academic Honor Roll. 2013: Gave the Bears a solid all-around option off the bench as a freshman, appearing in 14 games and driving in three runs over his 11 plate appearances...Came through with a run-scoring single in his first collegiate at-bat, March 1 vs. Northwestern State...Also produced runs with RBI-grounders in wins over Indiana State (March 29) and Evansville (April 27) and scored his lone run of the year vs. the Sycamores (March 30).
Background: The speedy outfielder was a four-time All-Suburban North Conference honoree at Hazelwood Central High School...Posted a .407 batting average, swiped 22 bases, scored 37 runs and drove in 28 more to help the Hawks to a 20-10 record as a senior...Named to PNC Bank All-Star Showcase and claimed his club's Silver Slugger Award...Batted .386 with 28 stolen bases and a conference-best seven triples as a junior in 2011 to power the Hawks to their second-straight district title...Hit .419 with 38 runs scored and 19 steals to help his club to a Class 4 sectional appearance as a sophomore in 2010...Also played soccer for Hazelwood Central.
