2005: Shafer appeared in 12 games for the Bears in his first season on the mound ... He had a 1-3 record, and an 8.31 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched ... He allowed 28 earned runs, 31 walks and struck out 32 batters ... Shafer suffered an injury at mid-season but rebounded for four solid outings late in the season, including a start against Southeast Missouri State (5/18), where he gave up three runs in 7.0 innings pitched for his first win of the season, striking out a career-high 10 ... Shafer played in 11 games for St. Cloud in the Northwoods League during the summer, posting a 1.90 ERA.
