DALLAS – Missouri State softball's Emily Koranda was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after her performance against New Mexico State, the league announced today.

In two starts against the Aggies, Koranda owned a 0.50 ERA with two complete game victories. She allowed just one run on four hits in 14.0 innings of work in the series. She struck out nine Aggies and the New Mexico State offense batted just .091 against her.

In the series opener against New Mexico State, the freshman right-hander hurled a complete game shutout. Koranda scattered three hits and struck out four batters to earn her 12th win of the season. Koranda was right back in the circle for game two and once again had New Mexico State's number. She allowed one earned run on just one hit and struck out five in her second consecutive complete game victory. The Marion, Iowa, native sat down the last 14 batters she faced in the series-clinching win.

The award marks Koranda's first CUSA Pitcher of the Week honor, but she also collected two CUSA Freshman of the Week awards throughout the season.

Koranda finishes her freshman campaign with a 2.76 ERA and a 13-14 record in the circle. She eclipsed 100 strikeouts on the season with 104 K's in 160.0 innings of work. She tossed 11 complete games and recorded two saves in her debut season for the Bears.
