August 17, 2026 | Softball
SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State head softball coach Kasey Griffith announced today the addition of assistant coach Carly Brousek to the Bears' coaching staff.
Â
Brousek spent the last four seasons as the assistant coach at the University of Minnesota Duluth (Division II). Most recently, she oversaw the outfield unit for the Bulldogs, a role she will also be in for the Bears. During her tenure at Duluth, she mentored 10 first-team all-conference players and helped lead the Bulldogs to their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament championship in 22 years and an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2019.
Â
In 2025, she helped develop a National Fastpitch Coaches Association first-team all-America selection, an NFCA all-region selection, a D2CCA all-region first-teamer, two NSIC first-team honorees and an NSIC all-defensive team selection.
Â
Brousek also spent two seasons overseeing a Bulldogs pitching staff that boasted a 1.95 earned run average across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. She found success in the role as the hurlers racked up honors that included 2023 NSIC Conference Pitcher of the Year, an all-central region first and second-team honoree and a first-team all-conference selection.
Â
Prior to her time in Duluth, Brousek spent time at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. In two stints at UW-Platteville, she had eight student-athletes receive all-WIAC honors while working with the catchers and developing power hitters. She also served as the recruiting coordinator with an emphasis on recruiting talent in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.
Â
Brousek attended Northern State University (S.D.) where she was a catcher from 2014-2018. She was a four-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and was a recipient of the Myles Brand Award.
Â
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern State with a bachelor's degree in English-Professional Writing in May 2018 and is working on a Master of Arts in Theology from Notre Dame.
