GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Missouri State men's golf team made a big move in Monday's (Feb. 16) second round of the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Bears fired a nine-under-par 279 to vault six spots and settle in 11th place entering the final round. They improved 17 shots over Sunday's opening 296, giving them a 575 total through the first 36 holes.
Freshman
Pedro Gallegos again led the way for MoState with a three-under 69 to go along with 73 the previous day, putting him in a tie for 25th at 142, two-under-par. Sophomore
Jonathan Jordan is right behind at 73-70--143 and tied for 30th. Junior
Owen Swearingen is tied for 45th with even-par 144 on rounds of 74-70, while freshman
Noah Naugle moved up 25 places in the second round with a two-under 70, placing him at 146 for the tournament and tied for 65th. Sophomore
Andrew Fallis has tallied 76-75--151 through two rounds.
Host Loyola (Md.) and Richmond remain tied for the top spot for the second straight day at 20-under-par 556, two ahead of Denver and five in front of NC State and UT Martin.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:45 a.m. local start.
