The football squad won't be the only Missouri State team traveling to Huntington, W.V. to take on Marshall this weekend. The Bears' men's golf team will be opening its new season Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 8-9) at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington.
The Bears and Thundering Herd will be part of a 15-team field that'll be playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 Tuesday to kick off their 2025-26 seasons.
Head coach
Neal Stafford will open his 21st full season at the helm and inaugural campaign in Conference USA with both some familiar and fresh faces in the lineup. Senior
Tim Holmberg will lead the way in the opener for MSU coming off an all-conference season in the Missouri Valley a year ago, his first with the Bears after transferring from Campbell. Junior
Owen Swearingen and sophomore
Jonathan Jordan each saw action in the majority of the Bears' outings last year, while highly-touted freshman
Pedro Gallegos and
Noah Naugle will look to make an immediate impact.
MoState's fall schedule includes five outings, concluding with a new spot on the calendar for the annual Missouri State Intercollegiate at Twin Oaks Country Club, Oct. 27-28. The Bears have six tournaments plus their first Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark. on the slate for the spring.
