WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Junior Tim Holmberg fired an even-par 72 Tuesday (Apr. 22) to lead Missouri State in the final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship and walk away with all-conference honors. In his first season at MSU after transferring from Campbell, Holmberg was named to the all-MVC team in a vote of the league's coaches.

The Bears saved their best round of the tournament for the final day, posting 294 to finish in 10th place with 907 in three trips around the North Course at Des Moines Golf & Country Club. Senior Ludvig Wijkstrom, junior Christian Rischer and sophomore Owen Swearingen each carded 74, and sophomore Andrew Fallis shot 76 as MoState rebounded from Monday's 36 holes which saw them battle not only the course, but a flu bug that swept through the team.

Wijkstrom was MSU's low finisher for the tournament, placing 29th in his final collegiate event with a 224 total. Rischer was a stroke behind in a tie for 30th, while Swearingen and Fallis finished with 230 and 232, respectively. Holmberg shot 81 in Monday's opening round before sitting out the afternoon with the flu.

Pre-tournament favorite Illinois State rallied with a three-under 285 to edge Murray State for the team title, 856-859. Belmont was third at 866, followed by Drake (873), Valparaiso (875), UNI (880), Southern Illinois (883), Bradley (889), Evansville (896) and the Bears.
