June 17, 2026 | Men's Golf
Head coach Neal Stafford has announced the signing of a key transfer to add to his Missouri State men's golf squad for the upcoming season. The newest Bear is Caden Cox of The Woodlands, Texas, who played the last two years for the recently-discontinued program at Wichita State.
Cox was ranked no. 231 nationally after his senior year at The Woodlands High School before beginning his collegiate career with the Shockers. He averaged 74.4 in 21 rounds last season as a sophomore, with his best finish coming at the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational in Hawaii, where he placed 17th after shooting 73-70-73--216. Cox also placed 27th at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, and 33rd at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Maricopa, Ariz. He just recently qualified for this week's Texas Amateur in Austin, being held Thursday thru Sunday (June 18-21).
"We are excited to welcome Caden to Missouri State," Stafford said. "He is an outstanding young man and a proven competitor who brings a tremendous work ethic, maturity and passion for the game. He has consistently performed at a high level and possesses the talent and character that fit the culture we have within our program. I believe his best golf is still ahead of him, and we are thrilled to have him continue that journey in Springfield."Â
Cox and his new teammates will open their 2026-27 season Sept. 6-8 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawley's Island, S.C.
