TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A pair of freshmen paved the way for the Missouri State men's golf team on Tuesday's (Apr. 28) second day of the Conference USA Championship at Texarkana Country Club. Noah Naugle and Pedro Gallegos each shot three-over-par 75 on the day, while the Bears posted a 302 team score and remain in 11th place with a 606 total through the first days.
Naugle has carded 79-75--154 through the first two rounds and is tied for 51st, while Gallegos bounced back from yesterday's 81 and sits in 54th with a 156 total. Sophomore Jonathan Jordan still leads the way overall for MoState through the first two rounds with 71-76--147, placing him in a tie for 37th, with senior Christian Rischer tied for 48th after carding 76-76--152. Junior Owen Swearingen has turned in 78-77--155 and is in 53rd place.
UTEP took sole possession of the team lead in the second round after being tied with New Mexico State overnight. The Miners have a six-stroke edge on the Aggies, 550-556, with Western Kentucky (567), Middle Tennessee (569) and Liberty (570) rounding out the top five.
Wednesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start off no. 1 and 10 tees.
