IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Missouri State finished with two individuals in the top 15 and took home sixth place in the field of 16 teams here Tuesday at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.
After being seated in the top three coming out of Monday's opening rounds, the Bears (300-301-311--912) slipped three spots on the tournament's final 18 holes to finish sixth, just one stroke behind Bowling Green.
Host Iowa (889) edged Montana State (894) and Southern Miss (906) for the overall team title.
Individually, MSU's Jiayi Zhang (74-72-74--220) finished tied for fifth place, carding an even-par 36 on the back nine in Tuesday's final round to maintain a top-five finish. With a fast start on Monday, teammate

Kevin Kane's squad will return to action in two weeks at the Red Wolves Classic in Jonesboro, Ark., Oct. 13-14, followed by the fall finale at Hot Springs Village, Ark., at the Diamante Intercollegiate.
