SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State men's soccer fall 2025 signing class is welcoming 10 new players to its roster. Head coach
Michael Seabolt has announced that the new additions to the squad are:
Daniele Aracri,
Gabriel Atienza,
Henrik Bertelsen,
Lucas Dawson,
Rodrigo Ferreira,
Patrekur Gretarsson,
Petter Hanssen,
Wato Matoba,
Fionn Mooney, and
Marcos Sánchez.
"We are already enjoying working with the great group of men that have joined the 2025 Missouri State Men's Soccer Bears," stated Seabolt. "They are making an immediate impact as top men on and off the field. A big thank you to the coaching staff and everyone at Missouri State that has assisted with a tremendous 2025 recruiting class. Go Bears!"
Seabolt's Missouri State Bears finished off the 2024 season with a 12-4-2 record, a national ranking of 19 in the NCAA's RPI metrics, as well as a sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Bears are ranked 24th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA DI Men — National Pre-season Poll. This marks their 7th consecutive year being ranked.
The fall signing class enters in time for the MSU Bears' inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference.
The players joining the Bears this fall are:
Daniele Aracri (Junior, Defender, 5-7, 159, Rome, Italy)
Aracri is welcomed to Missouri from Italy after graduating from Liceo Sandro Pertini Ladispoli High School.
Gabriel Atienza (Senior, Defender, 6-0, 190, São Paulo, Brazil)
Atienza joins the Bears as a transfer, previously competing at Cowley College (2021-2022), Oral Roberts University (2023), and the University of South Carolina (2024). In his two years at Cowley College, the Brazilian won a conference championship along with two district championships and two regional championships. In his junior year at Oral Roberts University, he was awarded the Second Team All-Conference (Summit League) and All-Newcomers of the Year honors.
Henrik Bertelsen (Freshman, Midfielder, 5-9, 139, Arendal, Agder, Norway)
Bertelsen is welcomed to Missouri from Norway upon graduating from ??Sam Eyde Videregående Skole High School.
Lucas Dawson (Freshman, Forward, 6-2, 174, Hull, England)
Dawson joins the Bears from England, where he competed at Scunthorpe United FC from Under-9s until the Under-16 age divisions. He then joined Hull City Academy for the U18 division. In his first year at Hull City, Dawson accumulated 20 goals and 10 assists.
Then in his second year, he scored 16 goals and eight assists. The Englishman comes from a successful soccer family background, with family members coming from multiple professional football clubs in England. His uncle, Michael Dawson, played for the England men's national team, Tottenham Hotspur, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest. His father, Andy Dawson, played for Scunthorpe and Hull City for 10 years in the Premier League. His brother, Joey Dawson, played for Celtic for 4 years and is now at Scunthorpe professionally.
Rodrigo Ferreira (Senior, Midfielder, 5-11, 170, Espinho, Portugal)
Ferriera is welcomed to Missouri as a transfer, previously competing at Mid-America Christian University (2021-2013) and Winthrop University (2023-2025). In his time at Mid-America Christian University, he was part of a squad that captured the 2021 and 2022 SAC Conference and Tournament titles. In 2022, he was awarded SAC First Team All-Conference and Tournament honors. In his time at Winthrop University, in 2024, he received the All Big South Conference first team and All Big South Tournament team honors. Ferriera's father, Rui Ferreira, played professional football in the Portuguese first division and is now a professional football coach in the Portuguese first division.
Patrekur Gretarsson (Freshman, Midfielder, 5-10, 165, Neskaupstaður, Iceland)
Gretarsson joins the Bears from Iceland, where he competed for his hometown team Knattspyrnufélag Austfjarða (KFA) in the third-tier league in Iceland. Gretarsson finished second in the lower league cup last season. He played over 70 matches for the first team, also boasting the accolade of most promising player in 2022 and 2023. Gretarsson was also selected for the Icelandic U-15 and U-17 national team selection. The Icelander also practiced volleyball for 7 years and won youth titles with his team, Þróttur Neskaupstaður.
Petter Hanssen (Freshman, Forward, 6-1, 163, Bodoe, Nordland, Norway)
Hanssen is welcomed to Missouri from Norway after graduating from the NTG Bodoe High School, where he played under the tutelage of coach Thomas Jacobsen.
Wato Matoba (Freshman, Defender, 5-11, 168, Kaizuka-shi, Osaka, Japan)
Matoba joins the Bears from Japan after graduating from Kokoku High School, where he competed in the Kansai Prince league for FC Kokoku for three seasons. In his first season, he played 12 matches and scored one goal while going on to earn second place in the Groien Kansai League with his team. In Matoba's second season, he played 13 matches en route to becoming the Inter-High Tournament Osaka Champion with his squad. In his final high school season, he played 18 matches and scored one goal.
Fionn Mooney (Sophomore, Midfielder, 5-8, 147, Worcester Park, Surrey, England)
Mooney is welcomed to Missouri from England, where he graduated from Whitgift School.
Marcos Sánchez (Sophomore, Forward, 5-8, 161, Madrid, Spain)
Sánchez joins the Bears from Spain, where he graduated from I.E.S. Prado Santo Domingo, under the tutelage of coach Mar Pérez Merino.
