Owen Swearingen paved the way for the Missouri State men's golf team in Sunday's (Apr. 13) 36 holes to open the Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course. Both Bears posted 148 totals for the day to place them in a tie for 41st; Wijkstrom shot 77-71, while Swearingen had 75-73.
As a team, MSU tallied 302-294--596 and is in 13th place entering Tuesday's final round. Kansas leads the field after shooting 26-under-par for the day, a 550 total, eight clear of second-place Little Rock and nine better than host Iowa.Â
Individually for the Bears, junior
Tim Holmberg is third on the team and tied for 49th overall after carding 72-77--149, while junior
Christian Rischer is tied for 60th with 78-75--153. Sophomore
Andrew Fallis shot 81-75--156 and is tied for 68th.
