Christian Rischer paced the Missouri State men's golf team Monday (Mar. 31) on the first day of the Memphis Intercollegiate: Spirited by Old Dominick in suburban Memphis, Tenn. Rischer shot 77-78--155 in cool and windy conditions on the tough Colonial Country Club layout, former site of the Memphis stop on the PGA Tour, and is tied for 37th place.
As a team, the Bears are 13th entering the final round after posting 315-321--636 to open the tournament. Host Memphis will take a five-shot lead over 10th-rated Illinois into Tuesday's final round, 584-589, with Southern Miss third at 600. Samford and Austin Peay (607), Western Kentucky (611), Central Arkansas and Dayton (612), Illinois State (617) and Morehead State (620) round out the top 10.
Individually for MSU, sophomore
Owen Swearingen was second on the team and tied for 57th overall, turning in 74-85--159, while junior
Tim Holmberg was a stroke back in a tie for 59th with 82-78--160. Senior
Ludvig Wijkstrom is tied for 63rd after shooting 82-81--163 and freshman
Jonathan Jordan carded 87-84--171.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
