The Missouri State men's golf team welcomes 11 other opponents to Springfield this week for its third tournament of the spring season, the ninth annual Twin Oaks Intercollegiate at Twin Oaks Country Club. The 54-hole tournament will be contested over two days, 36 holes Monday (Mar. 17) and 18 on Tuesday, with both days scheduled for 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts. Spectators are welcome, free of charge, at Twin Oaks, 1020 E. Republic Road in Springfield.
MSU finished third in the tournament a year ago and, with last season's top two finishers not in the field, is looking to gain some momentum for the latter part of the spring. Other participants include SIUE, Bradley, Southern Utah, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Omaha, UNI, Lindenwood and Evangel.
The Bears' lineup is headed by junior
Tim Holmberg, who leads the team with a 72.50 scoring mark and was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after finishing ninth in the team's last outing two weeks ago, the Colin Montgomerie Classic in suburban Houston. Junior
Christian Rischer, sophomores
Owen Swearingen and
Andrew Fallis, and freshman
Jonathan Jordan will round out the MSU lineup, while senior
Ludvig Wijkstrom and sophomore
Max Bowman are set to compete as individuals.
