On the Mat
- The Missouri State Acrobatics and Tumbling team will compete for the first time on Sunday when it faces Presbyterian and Bluefield State in a tri-meet. The Bears will take to the mat at 1:00 p.m. and the meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
- This will be the first meet of the year for all three teams. Bluefield State began competing last season and went 1-5. Presbyterian began its first season in 2020 and went 5-3 in 2024.
- The Bears will field a team of 18 student-athletes with 10 freshmen, six sophomores and two juniors. Â
- MoState's A&T athletes come from across the country and world. Five are from Missouri, three are from Georgia, two are from Kansas, two are from Illinois, and one each from North Carolina, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Arizona, Texas and Brazil.
- Five Bears transferred to MoState: Isabella Bezerra (Felician), Brookelyn McCaffrey (Lander), Dari Johnson (West Virginia State), Rebekah McNeely (Lander) and Clarissa Bowers (St. Louis Community College). Lander and West Virginia State both offer acrobatics and tumbling.
- Kimberlee Adkins was announced as the head coach of the Bears on April 17, 2024. Prior to that, she served as the head coach as Davis and Elkins College. She has also worked as an all-star cheer coach with prestigious teams such as Fame Valley All-Stars and Top Gun All-Stars.
- Acrobatics and tumbling meets are composed of six events with a 15-minute halftime in-between. Event one is compulsory which has four heats that each focus on a skill that makes up the basics of A&T. Event two focuses on acro and event three features pyramids. After halftime, event four is the toss event followed by the tumbling event in event five. The final event is the team event.
- Each meet is made up of 20 heats. A team can earn up to 10 points per heat. The team event is the only event with only one heat. It also has 110 points possible instead of 10. A team can earn up to 300 points per meet.
- A start value is assigned to each heat based off the difficulty of the skills performed. Officials will then deduct points for mistakes.
