
Track and Field Bears Conclude Day One at Pitt State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri State track and field ended day one of the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. on Friday night.

The Bears opened the day at the track with a big performance in the 60-meter dash preliminary round. Sophomores Olivia Rogers and Kayleigh Jenkins will both move on to Saturday's final round after qualifying in the prelims. Rogers advanced with the third-fastest time (7.54) and Jenkins advanced with the eighth-fastest time and a personal record of 7.66.

Rogers and Jenkins also both set personal records in the 200-meter dash. In the open race, Jenkins finished fourth with a time of 25.09. Rogers placed fifth in the invite race with a time of 24.40.

Another pair of Bears landed top-10 finishes in the same event in high jump. Maggie Haase led the way with a third-place finish after a successful attempt of 1.60 meters. Kamdyn Moody was right behind her in sixth place with an attempt of 1.55 meters.

In pole vault, Jordan Drum set yet another personal record. The junior from Lee's Summit, Mo. placed seventh in the event with an attempt of 3.30 meters.

"It was a great day one with several breakthrough performances!" head coach Jordan Fife said. "We're looking forward to carrying that momentum into day two."

The Bears will continue competition on Saturday. Track events are set to begin at noon with the 3000-meter run and field events at 1:00 p.m. with the high jump invite.
