
Track and Field Bears Wrap Up Washburn Open

TOPEKA, Kan. – Missouri State track and field wrapped up its time in Topeka, Kan., with a handful of top performances on day two of the Washburn Open and Multis on Saturday.

Senior Kamdyn Moody finished sixth in the pentathlon with a personal record of 3,256 points. Moody started the combined events in second place with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.02. She then finished first in the high jump after an attempt of 1.61m to stay in second. Moody dropped to fourth after the shot put with an attempt of 10.52m then moved back up to third in the long jump with an attempt of 5.18m. The 800-meter run decided Moody's fate. A 22nd-place finish and a time of 2:53.30 dropped her two spots to finish in sixth overall. Moody set personal records in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump.

Senior DaeLin Switzer finished third in the regular high jump. Her attempt of 1.63m secured her finish and was her best attempt so far this season. Sophomore Linzy Williams also recorded an attempt of 1.63m and finished in fifth.

Sophomore Olivia Rogers was the only Bear to make it through to the final round of the 60-meter dash. Rogers qualified in eighth with a time of 7.57 seconds and she was the final runner to make the cut. Between the semifinals and the finals, Rogers found a way to shave .04 seconds off her time to finish in third with a personal record of 7.53 seconds.

Kayleigh Jenkins, Shacky Douglas and Brianna Howard also competed in the semifinals after qualifying in Friday's first round race. Jenkins finished with a time of 7.77, Douglas with a time of 7.85 and Howard with a time of 7.86.

"We're definitely piecing some things together and showing progress," head coach Jordan Fife said. "We need a little more consistency and a little more intensity over the next few weeks to be where we should be by conference."

The Bears will head back to the familiar scenery of Missouri for the Missouri Invitational on Feb. 7.
