The Lady Bear Necessities
  • Missouri State women's basketball heads to Fort Myers, Fla. for the GEICO Coconut Hoops Thanksgiving week tournament. The Lady Bears will face Florida State on Friday (Nov. 28), before taking on either Oklahoma or Coppin State on Sunday (Nov. 30).
  • This week's tournament marks Missouri State's first games in the state of Florida since the 2020-21 season, where MoState went 2-1 at the Gulf Coast Showcase which was also hosted in Fort Myers.
  • Since Beth Cunningham took over the reins, Missouri State owns a 4-3 record in MTEs. In her career as a head coach, Cunningham is 0-1 against FSU, 3-0 against CSU and has never faced Oklahoma.
  • Kaemyn Bekemeier (Jr., Republic, Mo.) leads the way for the Lady Bears this season, averaging 17.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. She has led MoState in rebounds in all six games this season and ranks 15th nationally in defensive rebounds/game (8.2), 38th in rebounds (58) and 51st in free throws made (27).
  • As a team, Missouri State ranks inside the top 15 nationally in: free throw attempts per game (9th - 27.0), free throws made per game (9th - 19.0) and three-point percentage defense (15th - .212).
  • Stingy Defense - The Lady Bears have held their opponents to just 22-of-104 (.212) from beyond the arc this season, which ranks 15th nationally and 1st in Conference USA. MoState is holding its opponents to just 60.7 points/game this season as four of its first six opponents have failed to meet the 60-point threshold. Missouri State is 4-0 this season when holding opponents under 60, and 1-1 when allowing more than 60 points.
  • In the Cunningham era, Missouri State is 48-5 when scoring 70+ points, 53-1 when holding opponents to 65 points or less and 41-0 when opponents score less than 60 points.
  • Missouri State is ranked 25th in this week's College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Lady Bears are one of two CUSA teams to appear in the poll, along with 23rd-ranked LIberty.
  • The 2025-26 Lady Bear squad features seven returners and seven newcomers in a new-look lineup that replaces all five of its starters from a year ago. MoState lost 69.2 percent of its scoring and 60.9 percent of its rebounding from last season.
  • The Lady Bears were picked to finish fourth in their first season as a member of Conference USA in the league's preseason poll. MoState slotted in behind Louisiana Tech, Liberty and Middle Tennessee. Little Rock transfer Lee was selected to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. Lee was an All-OVC first-team member a season ago after averaging 14.2 points per game for the Trojans, and she averaged 19.7 points in three career games against Missouri State.
