JACKSON, Tenn. -- Junior
Tim Holmberg placed third and the Missouri State men's golf team finished 10th as a team Tuesday (Sept. 17) at the Grover Page Classic at Jackson Country Club. A transfer from Campbell, Holmberg fired 69-68--137 in the rain-shortened event to post his best finish as a Bear and finish four shots behind medalist Brady Kaufman of SIU Edwardsville.
As a team, MSU posted 286-294--580 for 10th in the 15-team field. SIU Edwardsville rallied to claim the title with a 559 total, three in front of Austin Peay and eight clear of Morehead State.
For the Bears, junior
Christian Rischer backed up Holmberg by placing 24th after carding 70-73--143, one-under-par, while senior
Ludvig Wijkstrom finished 60th after shooting 71-79--150. Freshman Jonathan Hordan tallied 76-76--152 for 75th place and sophomore
Andrew Fallis finished 93rd with 79-77--156. Sophomore
Owen Swearingen shot 79-85--164 while playing as an individual.
The Bears are back at it Saturday thru Monday (Sept. 21-23) at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.Â
