Bears Wrap Up Fall Campaign With Sixth-Place Finish

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. -- The Missouri State women's golf team finished off its fall season Tuesday (Oct. 22) with a sixth-place finish at the Diamante Intercollegiate at Diamante Country Club. The Bears posted a final-round 287, one-under-par, for an 868 total, the second-best 54-hole team score in school history. They recorded their record score of 865 a year ago at the same event.

Sophomores Tierney Baumstark and Coyee Zhang paved the way for MSU as they tied for 11th with two-under-par 214's. Baumstark recorded her career-best tournament score on rounds of 73-69-72, while Zhang rallied after an opening-round 77 to card 68-69 the last two rounds.

Junior Kiser Pannier and freshman Marlee Edgeman tied for 41st at 222; Pannier shot 74-70-78 and Edgeman tallied 75-75-72. Senior Helena Bel had 79-75-75--228 to place 72nd.

Thirty-second ranked Florida Gulf Coast captured the team title in the 18-team field with 848, three better than Boston College. Oral Roberts and host Little Rock shot 857 to tie for third, while California Baptist finished just ahead of the Bears with 862.

MSU will be idle now until opening the spring season Feb. 21-23 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
