The Lady Bear Necessities
  • Missouri State women's basketball puts its 10-game home win streak on the line as the Lady Bears welcome Evansville on Friday night (6:30 p.m.). Last season's 63-51 victory over the Purple Aces on Feb. 23 kicked off MSU's current win streak at Great Southern Bank Arena. The Lady Bears lead the all-time series against the Purple Aces, 50-13, with a 27-2 record at home.
  • Point guard Lacy Stokes (Jr., Mount Vernon, Mo.) ranks 17th nationally and second in the MVC with a 2.73 assist-to-turnover ratio this season. In MVC games, Stokes' assist-to-turnover ratio jumps to an impressive 6.8 (27-4), which is more than double that of the next closest player in the league (McDermott - 3.3). This past weekend at Illinois State and Bradley, Stokes dished out 14 assists to just one turnover.
  • This season at home, the Lady Bears own an 8-0 record and are holding opponents to 57.9 points and 28.8 rebounds per game. MSU is also forcing 19.6 turnovers per game and is limiting its opponents to just 29% from behind the arc on its home floor.
  • Missouri State is 19-4 at home under Beth Cunningham.
  • In the Beth Cunningham era, the Lady Bears are 18-2 when scoring 70+ points. Under Cunningham, Missouri State is 22-0 when allowing 65 points or less and 29-3 when holding opponents to 70 points or less.
  • Freshman Spotlight - Kyrah Daniels has earned her way into the starting lineup as she paces the Lady Bears in MVC games with 11.8 points/game, 11 three-pointers and 6 blocks. She is also shooting 50% from the field and pulls down 4.6 rebounds/game. Louis Volker is coming off back-to-back games in double figures with a career-high 12 points at Bradley and 10 points at Illinois State. She shot a combined 11-for-15 (.733) in those games and had a career-high five assists against the Redbirds. Kaemyn Bekemeier posted a career-high four steals and three assists at Bradley.
  • Missouri State is 5-0 this season in games decided by five points or less. The Lady Bears have won those five games by a combined 10 points.
  • The Lady Bears were picked 5th in this year's MVC Preseason Poll. Missouri State is 397-164 all-time in MVC play.
  • On Sunday against Indiana State, Missouri State will honor one of its women's basketball all-time greats with the retirement of Kari Koch's #22 jersey. She will become the fifth Lady Bear to have her jersey retired, joining Jackie Stiles, Melody Howard, Jeanette Tendai and head coach Cheryl Burnett.
The Series

Aniya Thomas led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 16 steals while Sydney Wilson added 17 points and 7 boards. Kennedy Taylor also collected a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
