Missouri State women's golf coach
Kevin Kane has announced the addition of three high school standouts to his team for the 2024-25 season. The Bears have received commitments from Marlee Edgeman of Marshfield, Mo.; Tori Gardner of Decatur, Texas; and Siena Minor of Hannibal, Mo.
Edgeman was a two-time state champion at Marshfield High who placed fourth this past season after winning as a sophomore and junior. She is the third-ranked senior in Missouri according to the
American Junior Golf Association and won the AJGA's UHY Prep Series event in suburban St. Louis last spring. She also posted top-10 finishes this past summer at the Midwest Section PGA Junior Championship and the Notah Begay Junior Kansas Regional.Â
Gardner finished fifth for Decatur High at the Texas Class 4 state tournament last spring. She also posted a pair of top 10's on the Texas Junior Tour this past summer along with 10th place at the AJGA Ann Arbor Preview and a fifth place on the Texas Legends Junior Tour last month. Gardner placed 13th in a strong international field at the World Stars of Junior Golf Championship in Las Vegas in June.Â
Minor, the third-ranked player in Missouri by
Junior Golf Scoreboard, placed third at the state tournament last month for Hannibal High after also taking third for Columbia Rock Bridge as a sophomore. She finished third at the Missouri Amateur this past summer, a year after finishing second in the same event. She was medalist in the stroke play portion of the Missouri Junior Match Play last June and finished sixth at the Missouri Junior Amateur on her way to being named 2023 Missouri Junior Player of the Year by the
Missouri Golf Association.Â
Kane, in his 22nd season guiding the Bears, said he's excited about his recruits and their future at MSU.Â
"I love this recruiting class! Things really came together fast with them...I think all three committed in the span of about two weeks late in the summer, but I couldn't be happier," he said. "I think each one brings a little something different to the table, but they all have that grit and ability to grind that you need to be successful. They're all talented and they've obviously experienced quite a bit of success in their young careers. I think they're great fits for our program and expect them to be in the mix right away. They're excellent in the classroom and I think going to be really good college players. I couldn't be more pleased and proud to call them Bears."
After shattering their school 54-hole scoring record to close out the fall season, the Bears will open the spring portion of their schedule at the Rio Verde Invitational, Feb. 23-25.
