Â
- The Missouri State women's swimming & diving team enters the Purdue Invitational nearly two weeks after its most recent meet when it hosted the Arkansas Razorbacks on November 4.Â
- Senior Lily DeSpain was named Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week on November 8 following the meet against Arkansas for being the first swimmer to get a sub-five minute time in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.63). She earned her second event win of the season to lead a Missouri State sweep of the top four spots in the 500-yard freestyle over the Razorbacks. DeSpain also swam the fastest 200-yard butterfly in the conference at the time (2:02.26).
- Freshman Caitlyn Friebe also came away with conference honors from her performance against Arkansas. Friebe won MVC Freshman of the Week on November 8 after earning her first career event win in the 100-yard backstroke (54.48), which is the fastest time in the event by a Bear this season. Friebe has the second-best 100-yard backstroke personal time this season, behind Southern Illinois' Celia Pulido.
- Other Bears had notable performances against their first SEC opponent this season. Senior Kelly Sego earned her first win this year in the 200-yard backstroke (2.03.95), beating three Razorbacks in the process.Â
- Senior Jordan Wenner swam a 50.50 time in the 100-yard freestyle, a time that remains second in the MVC nearly two weeks after it was posted. Wenner and senior Samantha Roemer lead the Bears with three individual wins this season.
Bears Splashes (Men)
- Missouri State men's swimming & diving most recently swam in an intrasquad meet while the Bears and Razorbacks women's teams competed. Before that, the men opened the season with a 153-147 loss at Lindenwood (Oct. 6) and then a 209.5-140.5 win at home against Southern Illinois.
- A pair of individual Hammons Student Center Pool records were broken in the intrasquad meet. Senior Dylan Moffatt posted a pool record in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:13.95), beating the previous decade-old time by nearly four seconds. Senior Robert Hill set the pool best in the 100-yard backstroke (47.73), which remains the top time in the Mid-American Conference this season. Hill leads the Bears with five individual wins against opposing schools.
- Other Bears also made moves on the Mid-American Conference leaderboards. Junior Reese Hodgins swam the fastest 200-yard freestyle at the time (1:39.20). Senior AJ Huskey also held the fastest 200-yard IM time after the intrasquad meet (1:51.47).
- Missouri State also showed improvement in the relays with the quartet of freshman Nadim Elgohary, sophomore Lucas Chadwell, Hill and freshman Matvei Chesakov earning the team's season-best time of 1:21.23 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
