Luigi Maciel da Silva received the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week award while classmate
Lana Janson was awarded MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday.
Da Silva earned the honor after a stunning performance in the Bears' 182.5-109.5 victory over Omaha last week. He won the 100-yard breaststroke with the leading time in the MVC and 34th time in all Division I (53.19) this season. He also won the 200-yard breaststroke with yet again the leading time in the MVC and 53rd time in all of Division I (1:57.58).
Janson received the award after she had a splendid showing in the Bears' 179-118 victory over Omaha. She won the 100-yard freestyle with the leading time in the MVC (50.57). She also won the 200-yard freestyle with the second-fastest time in the MVC (1:49.12).
This tallies five total conference awards for the Bears already this season.
Missouri State swimming and diving will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in the three-day House of Champions Invitational starting on Thursday, Nov. 20 at the IU Natatorium.
