Bear Splashes (Women)
• In the dual versus Lindenwood on Oct. 7, MSU had a first-place finisher in all but one swimming event (100-yard backstroke). The Bears defeated the Lions, 164-77.
• In the dual versus Drury on Oct. 14, MoState registered a first-place finisher in all but three swimming events (50-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 400-freestyle Relay). MSU topped the Panthers, 157-80.
• In the Missouri Valley Conference Showcase on Oct. 21-22, the women's squad finished second out of four teams at the south site. The Bears recorded season-best times in 13 events over the span of the two-day meet.
• In the tri-dual versus Miami (Ohio) and Indiana State on Nov. 4-5, Yuliya Zubina broke a MVC record in the 100-yard breaststroke, grabbing first with a time of 1:00.66 (44th best nationally) and resulting in her being named MVC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 9. Also, during the tri-dual, the relay combination of Kelly Sego, Zubina, Samantha Roemer and Jordan Wenner snagged first in the 400-yard medley relay, recording a time of 3:38.80 that broke both the MSU and MVC record. The women defeated Indiana State, 196.50-154.50, and fell versus Miami (Ohio), 205-146.
• At the Purdue Invitational on Nov. 16-18, the women's team finished fifth out of nine clubs with 275 total points. Three out of the four schools that finished above MoState were members of Power-Five conferences (Louisville, Northwestern and Purdue). In the meet, Yuliya Zubina swam for a time of 28.68 in the 50-yard breaststroke, currently ranked 63rd in the nation, while Cabrini Johnson recorded a time of 2:14.38 in the 200-yard breaststroke, ranked 100th nationally.
• In the dual versus Missouri on Dec. 3, four MSU women earned first place. Roemer took first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.90), Johnson grabbed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.93), Lily DeSpain captured first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.72) and Yuliya Zubina snagged first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.32). The Bears fell to the Tigers, 201-96.
• In individual events, Roemer leads all Bears with eight first-place finishes on the season.

Bear Splashes (Men)
• In the dual versus Lindenwood on Oct. 7, MSU had first-place finishers in six events. The Bears defeated the Lions, 128-115.
• In the dual versus Drury on Oct. 14, MSU had first-place finishers in two events, with Dylan Moffatt capturing the 1000-yard freestyle and Brunno Suzuki taking the 200-yard freestyle. The Bears fell to the Panthers, 136-107.
• In the MVC Showcase on Oct. 21-22, the men's team defeated Evansville, 240.50-108.50, and fell to SIU, 222-128.
• In the dual against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 4-5, Moffatt earned first in both the 500- (4:26.71) and 1000- (9:11.98) yard freestyle. His 1000 free mark currently ranks 49th nationally, while his 500 free time sits at 96th nationally, and both these events resulted in Moffatt being named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 9. Also at the meet, Suzuki took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.31), but the men fell to Miami (Ohio), 233-120.
• At the Purdue Invitational on Nov. 16-18, the men's squad finished sixth out of seven schools, accounting for 307.5 total points. Much like the women's team, three out of the five programs that placed ahead of MSU were members of Power-Five institutions (Purdue, Louisville and Northwestern). Pawel Krawczyk recorded a 500-yard freestyle time of 4:22.60 in this meet, currently ranked 73rd nationally.
• In the dual versus Missouri on Dec. 3, Suzuki earned the lone first-place finish for the MSU men, winning the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:02.58. In the same event, Brayden Goeldner recorded second (2:03.22), and Robbie Hill accounted for three second-place earnings in the 100-yard backstroke (48.95), the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.45) and the 100-yard individual medley (50.05). The Bears fell to the Tigers, 210-86.
• In individual events, Moffatt leads all Bears with seven first-place finishes on the season.

Looking Ahead
• After action in Evansville, the Bears are set for a rematch with crosstown rival Drury on Fri., Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. MSU topped the Panthers earlier in the season on the women's side (157-80) and fell short on the men's side (136-107). The dual will take place at Breech Pool in Springfield.
