SPRINGFIELD – Behind stout defensive efforts from both teams, the Missouri State men's soccer team (1-0-2) tied Air Force, 0-0, at Allison South Stadium Friday night.

"Full credit to Air Force. They came and played very hard and it's a group of guys that will represent our country very well in the future," said head coach Michael Seabolt. "Full credit to us, as well, we played just as hard and gave ourselves a great chance to win the game."

In the first half, the Bears took the advantage in shots, firing off eight over 45 minutes, but only managing to put one on goal. The teams went into the locker rooms with the score knotted at zero.

Early in the second half, the Bears threatened to score. In the 48th minute, a burst of Missouri State shots by Nicolo Mulatero and Jon Koka, threatened to give the Bears the advantage, but ultimately, none made it past the Air Force (0-2-1) goalkeeper. This was the story of the match, as the Bears outshot the Falcons, 24 to 10.

Goalkeeper Harry Townsend earned his second clean sheet of the season, recording three impressive saves over the match's 90 minutes.

"Without overtime this year there's going to be more ties, and we need to get ready for the next match on Monday," finished Seabolt.

MSU hosts Lindenwood on Monday, Sept. 5, to mark their fourth match of an eight-game home stand. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPN+.
