Day One Results
CHESTERTON, Ind. -- The Missouri State men's golf team is tied for 10th with its first two rounds complete at the Valparaiso Fall Invitational at Sand Creek Country Club. The Bears shot 294-308--602 Monday (Sept. 19) on a day when play was suspended due to darkness with the majority of the field still needing to finish second-round play.
MSU did complete both rounds, though, as senior
Carter Lee led the way by carding 73-72--145, placing him in a tie for 11th as the day ended. Senior
Max Kreikemeier was tied for 18th after shooting 72-76--148. Freshman
Christian Rischer posted 73-80--153, while
Austin Gillund had 77-80--157 and
JP Lavalle shot 76-83--159.
Host Valparaiso led by a dozen when play was suspended at three under par, but still had holes to play, while DePaul was final for the day at nine over par. Cleveland State and Loyola Chicago are tied for third at +11 and Purdue Fort Wayne is at +12 to round out the top five in the 17-team field.
Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday with the completion of the second round, followed immediately by the final round.
