SPRINGFIELD –
The Bears left no doubt Friday night, taking care of business with a 7-0 men's soccer shutout win against CSUN at home.

"We appreciate Cal State Northridge coming to Springfield, they're a good team, they're going to win games," said head coach Michael Seabolt. "Our guys just ran really hard tonight, and they played really well."

The victory over the Matadors marks the first time Missouri State has scored seven goals in a match since Sept. 4, 1999, against Western Illinois.

MSU (4-1-2) scored early and often to begin the match, with Lewis Green netting a goal off assists from Kian Yari and Jack Denton eight minutes in, on the Bears' first shot of the night.

Less than 10 minutes later, MSU added some insurance, as Adrian Barosen assisted Aadne Bruseth on his third goal of the season to increase the home team's lead, 2-0. In the 26th minute, Bruseth assisted one of his own, feeding the ball to Jesus Barea to put the Bears up 3-0 in the first half.

Out of the locker room in the second half, the Bears continued their aggressive offensive attack with Nicolo Mulatero finding the back of the net in the 59th minute off an assist provided by Denton.

Ten minutes later, Barea netted his second of the night -- and team-best fourth of the year.

Two more MSU players increased the Bears lead before the final whistle, with Daniel Normann and Matt Jones scoring the first goals of their MSU careers to give the team a conclusive 7-0 advantage over the Matadors.

The Bears not only shone on the offensive attack in Friday night's victory, but on the defensive front as well, only allowing CSUN (3-2-1) to get off five shots, none of which were on goal. The shutout by Harry Townsend was MSU's fifth-straight, as the Bears moved their goal differential to 15, only allowing one score this season.

MSU completes its non-conference slate on Tuesday, Sept. 20, when the Bears host Tulsa at 7 p.m.
