Men’s Soccer to Continue Home Stand Against Air Force on Friday

  • Since the start of the 2019 season, Missouri State is 39-0-0 (1.000) when it scores two or more goals. The team's most recent two-plus, goal game was on Sunday, Aug. 28, when it scored three against UC Irvine. 

  • The Bears and the Falcons have met on eight previous occasions. The most recent matchup between the two teams came in 2018, in El Paso County, Colo., with the Falcons earning the 1-0 win. 

  • Nicolo Mulatero has gotten off to a quick start for MSU this season, scoring two of the Bears' four goals in the team's 3-0 win over UC Irvine on Sunday, Aug. 28. The senior forward is also tied for the second-most goals in the MVC. 

  • Jesus Barea leads the league in assists so far this season, recording two over two games. He's also tied for the second-most points in the conference (4), adding a goal to his name in the Bears' matchup with UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 25. 

  • Aadne Bruseth and Kian Yari have earned preseason recognition, being named to the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list. Bruseth, earns a spot on the list as one of 30 forwards named, while Yari earned recognition as a midfielder.  

  • Since the start of the 2019 season, the Bears have only lost two regular-season matches over 44 games. 

  • Michael Peck and Harry Townsend lead the team in minutes two games into the season. The sophomore defender and junior goalkeeper have been on the pitch all 180 minutes so far this year. Jack Denton is third on the team in minutes played, clocking 174. 

Scoring Breakdown 

  • Nicolo Mulatero has scored two of MSU's four goals this season, both coming against UC Irvine (Aug. 28). 

  • Aadne Bruseth and Jesus Barea are the Bears' other two goal scorers this season, coming against UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine, respectively. 

Bears in the Polls 

  • After the first week of the regular season, MSU comes in at No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches weekly rankings. 

  • The Bears are also a top-25 team in Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News' preseason polls, coming in at No. 20 and No.21, respectively. 

  • Starting out in the preseason top-25, this year marks the fourth season MSU has been in the poll. Tulsa, who the Bears face off in their seventh regular-season match, began the season at No. 11 in the top-25.  

  • MSU has boasted a top-10 teams for three-straight seasons. During the 2021 and 2020-21 seasons, Missouri State climbed as high as No. 8, while the 2019 squad peaked at No. 9 in the rankings.
