Missouri State men's golf coach
Neal Stafford has announced the signing of Max Bowman of Springfield to a National Letter of Intent. Bowman, a standout at Glendale High, will join the Bears for the 2023-24 season next August.
"I am very excited to make things official by having Max join our program," said Stafford. "He is someone I have kept a very close eye on watching his game develop over the years. Max has many intangibles on the golf course along with being a tremendous talent. His knowledge of the game and his demeanor throughout the course of a round have been very impressive to watch. Max is a perfect addition to what I anticipate being an awesome new foundation of Bears for the 2023-24 season."Â
Bowman currently is the second-ranked senior in Missouri in the American Junior Golf Association/Rolex rankings and is no. 3 in the state according toÂ
Junior Golf Scoreboard. He finished fifth at this past summer's Missouri Junior Amateur, and also placed ninth at the AJGAÂ Stan Utley event in Columbia, Mo. and 12th at the AJGA D.A. Points event in Pekin, Ill. He is a two-time Ozark Conference champion and was the state high school runner-up as a sophomore.
Bowman's father, Kory, was Stafford's predecessor as golf coach at MSU from 2003-05.
