Men’s Soccer Returns Home to Host Belmont

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team returns home this weekend to host Belmont on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

• The Bears defense has been impressive this season as a team in a tie for second in the NCAA in shutout percentage (.667) and 27th in team GAA (.778). 

• From 2019-present MSU has only lost 3 matches on its home turf at Allison South Stadium, sporting a 31-3-3 record at home (.886). 

• The Bears and the Bruins last faced off last season at Allison South Stadium, resulting in a 3-1 win for the home team. MSU leads the series 4-2-1. 

• The Bears are in a three-way tie for 13th place in goal differential, outscoring their foes, 23-7. 

• MSU is 13th in the nation in scoring offense so far this season. Over nine matches, the Bears have scored 23 goals, averaging 2.56 per game. 

• Since the start of the 2019 season, the Bears have only lost three regular-season matches  

Lewis Green earned Defensive Player of the Week conference honors after his performance against Bradley. They senior scored a goal while contributing to the Bears' sixth shutout of the season, playing 89 minutes in the win. 

Scoring Breakdown  

• MSU holds four of the top-10 spots for goals scored in the MVC. Nicolo Mulatero (2nd), Lewis Green (6th), Jesus Barea (7th) and Aadne Bruseth (10th) have all helped the Bears' scoring efforts this season.  

• Three Bears have recorded two-plus goal games this season. Nicolo Mulatero has two, coming against UC Irvine and Bradley, while Jesus Barea and Lewis Greens multi-goal outings were against CSUN and Evansville, respectively.  

Bears in the Polls 

• MSU has boasted a top-10 team for four-straight seasons. During the 2021 and 2020-21 

seasons, Missouri State climbed as high as No. 8, while the 2019 squad peaked at No. 9 in the  United Soccer coaches rankings. This year, the Bears have cracked the top-10 in Top Drawer Soccer's Top 25. 

• The Bears move up in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 this week, jumping three spots from No. 22 to No. 19. 

• MSU is also ranked in College Soccer News' national poll with a No. 24 ranking. 

Champions Day 

• Sunday's match has been dubbed as 'Champions Day," where the team will honor the commitment of a group of donors who are helping the soccer program push toward its goals on and off the field. 

• Several of the men's soccer 'champions' who have made a five-year commitment to supporting the team will be honored during halftime of Sunday's match.
