PEORIA, Ill. – After their eight-game home stand to start the season, the Bears began their road slate in commanding fashion Saturday night, beating Bradley, 3-0.
"Great performance in first half. The guys were super focused," said head coach Michael Seabolt
Nicolo Mulatero opened the scoring up early for MSU (6-1-2, 2-0-0), in the team's first road contest of the season. In the 10th minute at Shea Stadium, the senior struck from five feet out off of assists from Jon Koka and Javier Martin Gil. The score was his fifth of the season.
MSU's offense continued to pace the match, with the Bears firing off two more shots in the ensuing minutes. Thirty minutes into the first half, MSU struck again, as Lewis Green scored his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Zack Hargreaves to give the Bears the 2-0 advantage.
Three minutes later, Mulatero struck again, this time off an assist from Jack Denton. The score increased the Bears lead to 3-0, while bringing Mulatero's goal total to six on the year to lead the team.
After the half, both MSU and Bradley got offensive chances with none coming to fruition for either team. The Bears defense continued to hold strong, though, carrying the team to a 3-0 victory over Bradley (2-6-1, 0-3-0).
The shutout is MSU's sixth of the season and first since Sept. 16, while offensively the Bears outshot the Braves 13-5 in their second Valley match of the season.
"In the second half we got the shutout we needed. Training in the morning up here and then we head back to springfield to take on Belmont," finished Seabolt.
MSU returns home next week to host new MVC member Belmont on Sunday, Oct. 9. The match will kick off at 2 p.m.
