Kreikemeier Advances to Match Play at U.S. Am

August 11, 2021

Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier has advanced to match play at the United States Amateur Golf Championship at the famed Oakmont Country Club just outside Pittsburgh, Pa. The junior from Chesterfield, Mo., tied for 20th of 312 players in the two-round stroke play qualifying, shooting 68-71--139, one under par, and is the no. 26 seed in match play.

The field was sliced to the low 64 players Wednesday (Aug. 11) when the entire field completed the second round, which was delayed due to inclement weather Tuesday afternoon. Kreikemeier is scheduled to face 39th-seeded Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira, a junior at TCU, at 3:30 Central time Wednesday in the round of 64, although dangerous weather is threatening the area again today, causing further delays.
