Keeping Track of the Bears
- With five athletes in four events, Missouri State will send its highest number of qualifiers to the regional meet since 2016. The top-12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore. on June 9-12.
- Meredith headlines head coach Jordan Fife's group of NCAA qualifiers as the senior sprinter is scheduled to race in three events, including both individual sprints with the 100m and 200m. She is coming off a trio of titles at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship with gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. Among regional sprinters, Meredith's 100m time of 11.43 seconds from the Gorilla Classic (April 11) ranks 31st while her winning mark in the 200m (23.46) from the MVC Championship is 47th.
- Haney qualified in the high jump as her highest clearance of the season (1.76 meters) came at the Gorilla Classic on April 11 where she marked the program's third-best jump of all-time. Her season-best height is tied for 34th on the region's performance list. Haney was named MVC Field Athlete of the Week following her title-clinching performance at the Gorilla Classic and placed fifth at the MVC Championship on May 15.
- Henry, Jordan, Meredith and Weaver make up the Bears 4x100m relay that claimed the MVC title with a season-high time of 45.25, which ranks 44th in the West region. The MSU relay has either won or finished runner-up in four of the five meets it has competed in this season.
- The last time MSU had a qualifier advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championship was in 2016 when the 4x100-meter relay team of Asha Cave, Shavonne Husbands, Marissa Kurtimah and Holly Pattie-Belleli finished 12th to earn their spot in the NCAA Championship.
- At the 2019 NCAA West prelims, Grace Breiten finished 41st in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with the program's third-fastest time, 10:28.67. Taryn Smiley, who joined Fife's staff in the fall of 2020 as a graduate assistant and coaches the sprinters, came in 47th in the 100m.
- Fife is in his third year as head coach and seventh overall with the program after a four-year stint as an assistant. Fife has also handled head coaching duties of the cross country team since 2014.
