Keeping Track of the Bears
- Missouri State travels to the campus of Central Missouri after originally scheduled to compete at UCM's Mule Relays on Feb. 5 prior to the event's cancelation. The one-day meet on Friday serves as the Bears' final tune-up before the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship slated for Feb. 26-28 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
- Last time on the track, MSU claimed three event titles and 12 top-five finishes at the Gorilla Classic on Feb. 12-13. For the second straight meet, Jessica Haney and Madison Meredith came away with gold medal honors for their respective events. Haney broke the school's high jump record, clearing the bar at the 1.78-meter (5-10.00) mark to secure her first-place finish. Meredith won both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash to continue her impressive debut season for the Bears.
- Meredith's performance at the Gorilla Classic earned her MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week laurels. The senior sprinter has won all four events she has competed in this season after sweeping the sprint races at the Washburn Open (Jan. 30). Her times of 7.44 (60m) and 24.22 (200m) sit atop the Valley leaderboard.
- MSU has a total of nine top-five marks on the MVC performance list. Along with Meredith's top times, fellow sprinters Calandra Henry (7.66) and Nakaja Weaver (7.69) rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60m. Haney's historic leap sits as second best in the high jump this season. In the horizontal jumps, Brooke Jenkins ranks second in the triple jump (11.44m) and third in the long jump (5.54m), slotted right behind teammate Talia Emerson (5.63m) who is second among Valley long jumpers. The Bears' distance medley relay team boasts the league's fastest time after recording a time of 12:19.70 at the Washburn Open.
- Jordan Fife is in his third year as head coach and seventh overall with the program after a four-year stint as an assistant. Fife has also handled head coaching duties of the cross country team since 2014.
