Men's Soccer Staff Named West Regional Coaching Staff of the Year

November 30, 2021

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Missouri State men's soccer coaching staff was named the NCAA Division I West Regional Coaching Staff of the Year, United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday.

The honor recognizes head coach Jon Leamy, head coach designate Michael Seabolt and assistants Phil Woods and Drew Crawford after leading the team to its third-straight regular season Missouri Valley Conference championship and second-straight MVC tournament title with a perfect conference mark. The Bears also advanced to their third-straight NCAA Tournament, ending the season with a 17-2 overall record.

Earlier this fall, the Bears coaching staff collected its third straight – and fifth overall – MVC Coaching Staff of the Year honor. Prior to the award switching its recognition to "coaching staff" in 2006, Leamy, who is the league's winningest coach with 309 career victories, was named Coach of the Year in 1995, 1997, and 1999.

Leamy will retire at the end of his 30th season at the helm of the Bears' program, with Seabolt taking over the reins on January 1.
