SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team hits the road this weekend when the Bears travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to take on the Indiana State Sycamores at Noon on Sunday.

Quick Kicks
- In its last match out Missouri State was defeated by UNI, 2-0. Riley Sherron and Kennady Orlick led the MSU attack with three shots with two shots on goal apiece.
- The Bears used a valiant defensive effort to battle Loyola to a scoreless draw on Oct. 9. Goalkeeper Katherine Montgomery highlighted the MSU effort by recording a career-high 11 saves in 110 minutes of action. The 11 saves were the most by a Missouri State keeper since Kaitlin Maxwell's 11 on Sept. 9, 2018. With the tie, the Bears were the first team to get a point against Loyola in the MVC standings. It also marked the second-straight season that the programs had battled to a scoreless tie.
- Montgomery has been impressive protecting the net this season. She has tallied 59 saves in 1,225 minutes of action this season. Montgomery picked up her fifth clean sheet of the season in the draw at Loyola, which ranks third in the MVC and 54th nationally. Her .932 goals-against average ranks third in the MVC and 95th nationally.
- On Oct. 3, Missouri State was defeated by Valparaiso, 2-1. Anna Durnin put the Bears on the board in the 43rd minute when she headed in a Grace O'Keefe corner-kick.
- Missouri State routed Southern Illinois, 3-0, in their MVC opener on Sept. 17. Isabel Burke, Kaeli Benedict and O'Keefe all found the back of the net. O'Keefe and Durnin also picked up assists during the win.
- This season, Isabel Burke, Abby Couch, Durnin, Sierra Fury, O'Keefe, Kyli Jackson, Montgomery and Carly Raunig have all gone over the 1,000-minute mark. Burke leads MSU with 1,247 minutes on the season.
- Missouri State newcomers have accounted for 3,042 of the Bears 14,722 minutes this season.
- Missouri State leads The Valley and ranks 27th nationally in shot accuracy as the Bears have put 54.6 percent of their shots on goal.
- Head Coach Rob Brewer announced his retirement on Aug.18, which will go into effect at the completion of the season. Brewer started the Missouri State program in 1996 and has helped lead the Bears to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2017, in addition to finishing in the top three of the Missouri Valley Conference standings 11 times. Brewer has helped mentor 109 all-conference selections and 82 academic all-conference honorees during his tenure and has compiled a 223-206-60 record with the Bears.
The Leader of the Bears
- Head coach Rob Brewer has presided over the Missouri State women's soccer program for the entirety of its 26-season history. Overall, Missouri State has produced a 223-206-60 record during Brewer's tenure. The 1999 Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year has produced 109 all-conference selections and 86 academic all-conference honorees. In 26 seasons as a program, his team has reached the MVC Tournament 20 times and has only six losing campaigns. The Bears reached the NCAA tournament in 2000 and 2017 under Brewer's guidance. Prior to Missouri State, Brewer had head coaching stints at Elon, Virginia Wesleyan and Roanoke College. At Roanoke, he coached current Missouri State men's soccer coach Jon Leamy for four seasons.
Balanced Bears Attack
- The Missouri State attack has been balanced this season, as 10 Bears have tallied a point and nine Bears have scored goals. Of the Bears' 40 points this season, 37.5 percent have come from freshmen.
Working Overtime
- The Bears have gone the full distance without determining a winner four times this season and played in five overtime games. Their four ties are tied for third nationally. The Missouri State record for ties in a season is five, which was accomplished by the 2005 team.

- Kennady Orlick, Kate Schroeder and O'Keefe are all tied for the team lead with two goals apiece.

In her freshman season, O'Keefe has provided an immediate spark for the MSU offense. She currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference and ranks 28th nationally with seven assists. The Overland Park, Kan., native leads the Bears with 11 points and has tallied a goal or assist in eight matches this season.
Know the Foe
- Indiana State is 4-7-2 and 2-2-1 in MVC play this season, with its conference wins over Evansville and Northern Iowa.
- The Sycamores defeated UNI, 3-1 in their last match on Oct. 9. Sasha Thompson scored two goals while Cece Wahlberg added another.
- Wahlberg is the leader of the ISU offensive attack. The junior midfielder is tied for the team lead in goals with four and leads the Sycamores with 25 shots on goal this season. She ranks 23rd nationally in shot accuracy sending 64.1 percent of her shots towards the net.
- Mackenzie Kent and Sasha Thompson also are tied with Wahlberg for the team lead in goals.
- Overall, Indiana State has tallied 17 goals while allowing 19 through 13 matches this season. The Sycamores rank third in the MVC in shot accuracy by putting 50.4 percent of shots on goal.
- Maddie Alexander is in charge of goalkeeping duties for ISU. She has tallied 54 saves while allowing 13 goals in 944 minutes of action.
- Head Coach Julie Haney is in her sixth season at the helm. Under her guidance, Indiana State has posted a 28-45-8 record. Prior to ISU, she served as an assistant at Iowa for four seasons.

- Missouri State leads the all-time series, 13-6-2. Last season, Indiana State defeated the Bears, 1-0 in overtime.
