MVC Release

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State men's soccer senior goalkeeper Michael Creek (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) was highlighted Wednesday (Sept. 23) in the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight.

He was joined in this week's spotlight with Loyola cross country runner, Anneke Murin.

Creek carries a 3.98 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in Entrepreneurship.  The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American has been a Valley Scholar-Athlete selection the past two seasons.

The MSU goalkeeper has made 36 appearances in goal while boasting a 0.700 goals against average in his career.  He was named the 2019 MVC Goalkeeper of the Year after finishing with 1813:14 goalie minutes and allowing just 13 goals to rank ninth-best in the nation with a 0.645 goals against average.  He collected 48 saves and posted seven shutouts to help lead the Bears to a program-best 20-1-1 record and an NCAA Tournament win against Denver in 2019.

To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Missouri Valley School and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
